Biography

Prof. François Mach (h index >50), born in 1961, is an expert in the field of cardiology, in particular with regard to the development and progression of atherosclerosis diseases. After obtaining his MD at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, he studied internal medicine and cardiology at Geneva University Hospital. He then went on to complete a post-doctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Prof. Peter Libby, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston (1995-1999).

Research Area

he was the President of the Swiss Society of Cardiology. François Mach is the author of more than 350 High Impact Factor publications, has obtained several European research grants (“European Vascular Genomics Network” [EVGN] FP6, “Inflammation and Vascular Wall Remodelling in Atherosclerosis” [AtheroRemo] FP7), and is currently involved in the Athero-B-Cell FP7 (Targeting and exploiting B cell function for treatment in cardiovascular disease, all funded by the European Community. As director of the cardiology basic science laboratory at the Faculty of the Medicine University of Geneva, Prof. François Mach and his research group have developed animal models of atherosclerosis, acute myocardial infarction, chronic myocardial ischemia, and ischemic stroke
